racism is both capitalism’s answer to why oppressed populations experience worse outcomes due to their material conditions and its justification for that oppression. if you could somehow magically end racism overnight without changing the material conditions, class-unconscious people will immediately start searching for an answer to explain those material disparities. if those material disparities benefit them, they will want a racist explanation instead of one that indicts their privilege.
