I want you to remember while all this clown show is going down that they managed to make their party less palatable than Donald. Fucking. Trump.

They could have won so easily. They could have absolutely swept it. It would have been a cakewalk for them to stop funding genocide. That’s all it would have taken.

Now imagine if they did that AND properly cancelled student loan debt like they promised.

Imagine if they had taken the threat of the Republican party seriously instead of reaching across they isle

Imagine if they had stopped abortion bans and secured woman’s autonomy.

Imagine if they had cracked down on landlords and rent prices. Sure rich people would complain but that’s easily combated by paying for advertising showing renters being like “this is great I can actually afford to live now.”

Imagine if they had cut out the stupid means testing red tape crap and actually funded poor people instead of wars to get them in homes, off the streets and gasp spending money in the economy? You could have easily sold it to small businesses as “Hey we’re going to give poor people money, where do you think they’re going to spend it? At your business, idiot.”

Even something simple like capping fuel prices at a reasonable rate would have absolutely destroyed any bad blood between voters and the Dems

They could have had the easiest victory, but they didn’t have the spine to betray their wealthy donors. They never intended to win and might as well be an arm of the Republican party. It has to be on purpose.

I will never forget how the Trump campaign did political ads just showing clips of Democrats talking about how great the Biden economy is.

The only reason it wasn’t the biggest self own of the campaign is because Kamala then went on to flip off her entire base so she could spend her campaign running around with the Cheneys to talk about shit that literally no one in either party wanted.

Because, after all, we must resign ourselves to the inevitable and say to ourselves, once and for all, that the bourgeoisie is condemned to become every day more snarling, more openly ferocious, more shameless, more summarily barbarous; that it is an implacable law that every decadent class finds itself turned into a receptacle into which there flow all the dirty waters of history; that it is a universal law that before it disappears, every class must first disgrace itself completely, on all fronts, and that it is with their heads buried in the dunghill that dying societies utter their swan songs.

This site’s fixation on the democrats has become really tiring. I swear republicans could be piling us into a pit, and every other Hexbear would say to the republican death squad “this is the democrats’ fault actually, but also it doesn’t matter because a democrat president has literally no difference from a republican president anyway”

Apparently, the democrats are rational actors who can choose to stem the tide of fascism if they wanted to whereas the republicans are just some force of nature that we accept as an unavoidable occurance.

PLEASE kill the last vestiges of electoralism in your head. These people are of the same apparatus. They could have stopped trump from taking the presidency? No they couldn’t have because they’re fucking neolibs who enact neolib policies. If they enacted progressive policies, they wouldn’t be the fucking democrats anymore. It’s like saying a bear could have avoided drowning in the lake if it were a fish.

THE image of the election imo is the attendees of the DNC walking past Palestinian protestors reading the names of dead children with their fingers in their ears.

People are surprised, they become indignant. They say: “How strange! But never mind — it’s Nazism, it will pass!” And they wait, and they hope; and they hide the truth from themselves, that it is barbarism, but the supreme barbarism, the crowning barbarism that sums up all the daily barbarisms; that it is Nazism, yes, but that before they were its victims, they were its accomplices; that they tolerated that Nazism before it was inflicted on them, that they absolved it, shut their eyes to it, legitimized it, because, until then, it had been applied only to non-European peoples; that they have cultivated that Nazism, that they are responsible for it, and that before engulfing the whole of Western, Christian civilization in its reddened waters, it oozes, seeps, and trickles from every crack.

Liberals spent four years showing how demonic they really are.

This is the point that bears repeating. And obviously people will say, “why do you blame Democrats for the things Trump is doing?” and the answer is you can’t treat them as separate entities that don’t affect each other; Democrats go as far right as the Republicans have scared the public into accepting, then Republicans will go farther right each time Dems reset people’s mental doomsday clock for revolution.

Democrats are so useless I have trouble believing they’ll win another election. When they go low (and get exactly what they want) we go high (to maintain our diplomacy/decorum)

Republicans can just shit on all prexising norms/traditions and know the democrats won’t push back in the slightest lol

Oh, they’ll win another. Next time they need to launder a genocide or two - it’s easier to do when all the liberals are tuned out by virtue of their preferred figurehead being in the white house.

They just play as a tag-team depending on what imperialism needs to digest over the next 4 years.

Probably right, but I have to have bloomer in me (i.e. people will come to their senses and abandon the Democratic Party en masse)

Trump’s on a revenge tour right now though and if it continues, we might not have a functioning “democracy” with democrats by 2028

Things I wanted from the democrats (in no particular order):

    1. Stop arming and funding Israel, free Palestine

    2. Forgive all student loans, make college free moving forward

    3. Make abortion and bodily autonomy a right as well as contraception

    4. Free healthcare for all, fuck health insurance companies, if your doctor says you need it then you need it and it is paid for

    5. Legalize and decriminalize weed, pardon everyone ever charged with this drug-related crime (also other drugs too like ketamine, LSD, mushrooms, etc.)

    6. Protect trans rights

    7. Fix the police problem, I don’t know if this can be down without communism but all of them have serious brainworms

    8. Ban short term rentals like Air bnb. We need more houses for people who need homes, fuck, we need communism

    9. Make it easier to get all types of welfare benefits, especially disability benefits which is a fucked up process. Fuck it, let’s have UBI.

    What they gave me:

Nothing except they made it easier for people already eligible for loan forgiveness to get it. That’s why I voted PSL. Why the fuck would I vote for Kamala? I want actual change.

why would the democrats want to do any of those things, their goal was to genocide the palestinian people, to meat grind 2 million ukrainians and russians, and hand the reins to trump to take the heat off their back for 4 years

it was the genocide, but imo that was the straw that broke the camel’s back— it was that on top of the lack of offering any platform besides “not blompf”. if they were gonna give people healthcare, force price controls and rent control, actually forgiving student debt etc even pro palestine people would have held their nose and voted. but most people felt like they arent even pretending they’re gonna do the bare minimum let alone anything good for us AND they’re bombing kids with money they could be using to do that shit we all need? fuck this.

My entire life has been watching these things build and build to this. Every democrat opportunity squandered and wasted because of norms and civility. While the Republicans worked toward seizing power and doing something with it. The amount of dem incompetence in any other profession would have seen every single one of them fired.
