Here’s what you need to know- consortium news in 2016, the website was listed by PropOrNot as a “Russian propaganda outlet,” a claim Consortium News strongly disputes, arguing it challenges mainstream narratives and exposes bias in media.
Article really is totally bias towards Russia and leaves out many well documented facts or any facts that would take away from the Russian narrative that Russian is the victim.
Interesting to read for the sole fact it gives you insight into what the Russian propaganda machine is pumping out.

Who the fuck are PropOrNot, and why the fuck should I care what they say? A quick search shows that they’re an anonymous website with no verifiable methodology, to the point that even western sources actively dismiss them.
But .world social fascists would accept scrawling on the side of a padded cell as gospel truth if it confirms their biases.
Fact checking sites aren’t reliable. Consortium News is run and was founded by world-class investigative journalists who won Pulitzer’s. So I’ll take them over a “fact checking” site. You must think people are stupid.
I’m not sure how anyone would read that article knowing anything about Ukraine and not immediately realize this article is biased and misleading. It is certainly bending the truth. I think only a stupid person would try and defend it.

Your anecdotal evidence doesn’t mean shit. Knowing people in Ukraine doesn’t refute the story.
The fact is that between February and March 2014, unmarked Russian soldiers occupied and blockaded the Simferopol International Airport, most of Ukraine’s Crimean military bases, and the Supreme Council of Crimea. The Kremlin stated that no Russian troops were active in the region, but many little green men were operating in this region while disguised as pro-Russian separatists.
After two months of denial, on 17 April 2014, Russian president Vladimir Putin confirmed that the Russian military had been operating in Ukraine.
So by Putin’s own account here, sending troops into Ukraine they of course started the war. All of which is conveniently left out of this article. Some great reporting here…

There is no simple blame to be laid on an entire country. It makes no sense to blame “ukraine” or “russia”. But it’s obvious that certain people are largely responsible. It’s quite clear that Putin and his pals ordered an invasion for colonial reasons. Now they got alt-imperialists writing pages and pages trying to flip the script. Pathetic. It’s not some geo-political mystery. It’s quite obvious whom to blame.

It’s quite clear to everyone who has been studying history that Russia is not doing colonialism, has stated explicitly that the invasion was because it could not distinguish NATO activity on its border from a real nuclear threat, and proceeded to behave exactly as if that was the case.
Just go look up NATO exercises in Ukraine. The first one ever was months before EuroMaidan. After that, NATO flew fucking B-52s in exercises right next to Russia. They even ran an exercise that was a simulation of invading Kaliningrad.
And just so we’re clear. Military exercises are when you build a logistics chain, activate units, and engage in every activity that you would if you were actually invading - the only difference is that you pull back before crossing borders or violating airspace. That means Russia has to activate defenses just in case this exercise ends up being the real thing. That is to say, NATO was literally operating in Ukraine and doing dry runs for invading Russia.
