I can’t even teach my family how to use a browser, or the concept of a website vs. an app.
A small nugget: I just did a Google search on a history of Trump’s antisemitism, and got bombarded with government pages on his current executive orders and other stuff debunking it. Tried it in DuckDuckGo, got a pile of articles on historical/associate antisemitism.
If you’ve ever had to deal with an addict long term, you’ll notice the initial euphoria wears off and the allure of the next high dissolves into desperation and despair.

I’ve actually started going to Yandex, of all places, to do my searching simply because the English language version isn’t optimized to filter out older sources and jam my first few pages full of US-endorsed promoted content.
The biggest advantage I have found with ChatGPT is that I can train it to give me answers in a form I like. It sources links are familiar to me and summarises and uses language on my level instead of rambling on forever.
I’ve tried the different ones on DuckDuckGo but that requires me to open a window and a browser and that’s just a lot more work, especially ChatGPT is now integrated into Siri and I don’t have to do anything to ask it a question

Funny enough that stuff is best to search on the ai’s right now. Ask it for its sources.
I do this some with local LLM scripts, but ultimately it still has to pull sources from web search, too.
Yeah. I had to put ChatGPT on my home screen because browser search engines are worthless now.
I’d use Le Chat Mistral (Mistral AI) instead.
Or at least duck.ai

Every modern LLM can do that
