Web 0.0: No accounts, no logins, just read what they have to say and the leave.
I loved Web 0.0
Web 4 - connect with ID card, creditcard, police certificate, send blood sample.
Looks a lot like the general progression of capitalism

I wish Web 3.0 would catch on though.
As soon as someone makes anything remotely usable on web 3.0 we’ll be there. So far it’s just scams or rebuilding the wheel with Blockchain for some unknown reason.
I meant the Semantic Web, though in hindsight I really should have not hidden that in a link.
Web 3.0 has changed from semantic web to use crypto and other new technical tendencies. I do not hope a more bright future than with previous definition.
We’re on Web 3.0. It’s not all crypto crap, it’s also decentralized infrastructure.
federated and decentralized aren’t the same thing
You’re right, they’re not. decentralized doesn’t imply federation, but federated implies decentralization.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distributed_social_network
A distributed social network or federated social network is an Internet social networking service that is decentralized and distributed across distinct service providers (similar to email, but for social networks), such as the Fediverse or the IndieWeb.
Both kind of networks are decentralized. However, distribution goes further than federation. A federated network has multiple centers, whereas a distributed network has no center at all.
you’re right
Web2 is dystopian. Hey, maybe Web3 will be marginally better.
