Isn’t the sorcerer the one that knows few spells but can cast them endlessly? It’s been 20 years since I last played this.

Forget everything you remember from 20 years ago; D&D basically reworked everything from back then lol. Now everybody from druids to clerics can cast weak spells (cantrips) endlessly, and the main thing about sorcerers is they can use “metamagic” to upgrade their spells slightly and they can cast any spell they know with their spell slots. they dont prepare spells into specific slots. However they do still only know a very small amount of spells relative to most classes.

It’s not that different from 3ed. Cantrips were free too, and metamagic was a set of feats. Maybe there was a limitation on the number of spells cast. Being able to lob magic missile endlessly sounds broken for a 1st level character.

Fiend Bladelock getting all the sword of Paladin with all the fun of Sorcerer. Sure, they only get 2 Fireballs per Short Rest, 6 per Long Rest if your DM does SRs as intended, until level 11 when Warlocks get more slots. But, when they run out, they can hit twice.
