Bans on using russian language in restaurant menus were implemented and finally when the bans on using russian language in schools and government services were implemented the people of these regions were tipped over the edge into secessionism. That is when the civil war of Ukraine began, a war between Ukrainian nationals that were ethnically russian and felt they were no longer safe as part of Ukraine and the Ukrainian government.
That war raged for 8 years before Russia stepped in. And it will not magically go away if Russia leaves. What do you suggest doing? Letting Ukraine kill them all?
