He started saying they should have imprisoned him forever instead of immediate death penalty. Which like, c’mon, I know you are against death penalty but c’mon
That’s where I always get whatabouty. Like, why should leaders get off easier than combatants when they have more agency in the conflict? What about all the noncombatants who got it worse than ol’ Benny did?
Why, if we’re going to talk about victims of injustice in all of history, are we talking about Mussolini?
Eh you are right, but in this case there’s an enormous risk you’ll lose power to some other fascist/fascist in disguise who will free the turd / put him in a cushy prison.
There was a political necessity for the Romanovs to be romanoffed, and there was a political necessity for Mussolini to be immediately shot and displayed like a pig. Maybe, idk.
Hanging up a body is inherently crass, let’s be honest it can be a bit of a downer. Which is why it takes forethought and solid planning to make defiling a dictators corpse fun for the whole neighborhood. Someone should have brought a good anti pasta for the crowd, and maybe have some local musicians on standby. Instead of hanging the body, you could have shot it out of a cannon. A lot of italian history involves doing whimsical stuff with cannons, everyone would have loved it.
He was hung up because people kept beating on his corpse. 1 woman shot his body with a pistol.
His argument was “the corpse shouldn’t have been exposed, it’s already dead and making a party defiling a corpse is pretty crass”
Utterly unbecoming of a dinner party
ask him if deporting all the jews in you country is “pretty crass”

His stance was “I know he deserved it, far worse even but the show was barbaric regardless”
the death penalty is a far kinderpunishment than life in prison, unless maaaaaaybe if its a cushy prison with other people

Hey, italians’ favorite group activity is killing a pig and hanging it upside down for further butchering. Tho the pig is literal and not figurative.
