@oblivion_comes @yogthos Integrating this kind of stuff in ActivityPub is actually a work in progress https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/fep-e232-object-links/2536
To be seen if it will be implemented by Mastodon, though.Nice idea, hopefully Mastodon adds this in.
@yogthos @junbird there are plenty of masto forks like fedibird.com that have had it for years and misskey has it, not sure about pleroma, friendica and hubzilla and streams also have it
We had a great deal of lively discussion about the best implementation and that’s the standard which emerged. For what it’s worth, my software will still support the existing ten ways of doing quoted shares until the legacy code finally dies out. But as far as I know, most everybody is on board with this except Mastodon (who refuse to implement it) and one other project I won’t name.

I think the points underlined by the author are valid but look like small settings or adjustements that could easily change in a mastodon fork backed by deep pocket sponsors. So for me the software license and the denentrilized-federated architecture are the core dna of the project .
Do we need to care about Twitter anyway?@fediverse @yogthos
I think it’s worth understanding what the good and bad parts of Twitter are, this helps inform how to build fediverse alternatives that are better and more attractive to users.
Is mastodon actually a good social media platform? is anybody using it and thinks it’s better then other platforms? (twitter reddit facebook groups or whatever)
dunno. In the past, I tried getting (addicted) into twitter 3 times. Failed. I tried mastodon once and I’m stuck now. I guess it works.
@wiki_me I think it is better in almost every way. there are few things I miss from the centralized corporate bubbles
I’ve been using it for a few years now and I find it’s a strictly superior experience to Twitter.
From technology perspective both the app and the site are much more responsive and loads faster because Mastodon doesn’t do tracking or push ads.
In terms of features it’s a lot better as well in my opinion. I really like the fact that you can mute notifications for when people star or boost your posts, and only see when people reply to them. I like the fact that you can have multiple columns in the UI and put stuff like lists there. It has a bunch of other nice features like content warnings as well.
In terms of community I find it’s better as well because different communities have different servers focusing on specific interests. There are servers focusing on tech, art, and a bunch of other topics. You can still see content and interact with users from other servers, but if you have a primary interest in a particular topic then it’s much easier to find people with common interests on the same server.
