The oscillating Lumberjack ride at Canada’s Wonderland theme park stopped suddenly, in mid-air, on Sunday. Videos posted to social media captured the sounds of passengers crying for help.
This is my nightmare scenario.
No mines the roaring rapids in Six Flags of Texas. Few years ago one filped over and 4 people drowned.
In some clips, the park staff can be heard through a megaphone asking, “Is everyone doing OK up there?” The crowd of riders shouts back “No!” in near-unison.
“I don’t know what I expected” meme
Why do we (read: humans) allow rides to not have way access to exits at all times? Even a retractable thing of some sort should be required to be able to reach any point on a ride.
There’s simply no way to build in a backup system here. It wasn’t a matter of getting them down but getting them out of their seats without falling. Even if it had a roof, you can’t open the seats and have users dump out. Could easily kill someone
I got an inversion device couple of years back during the throes of an insanely-painful suspected herniated disc. The instructions were very clear that full inversion was not to last any longer than 5 minutes as it could be extremely dangerous.
Can’t imagine doing 30 mins, with no previous exposure or training, fuuuuuck.
