    Exactly, if an article mentions ‘shade structures’ at bus stops before suggesting to plant actual trees there they’ve got something backwards.

      Trees are shade structures, after all. They just don’t require paying someone to build them.

        Trees also take quite a few years to grow to the height where they can provide shade in any meaningful way, so a temporary shade structure would be appropriate for at least a couple of years until the canopy becomes mature enough to provide significant amounts of shade.
