I love how the first thing Korra does is threaten to beat an equalist agitator in the park and somehow they are wrong. The bending police just arrest them en masse on the suspicion of participating in terrorist activities. A bender gang demands protection money. And in the first series, occupied territories had all the benders imprisoned so whoever was left could be terrorized by the troops.

it’s like the Harry Potter effect where when you think about it you’re like “wtf wait a minute they’re basically a cop”. IIRC beating the protestors up was played for laughs and Korra is proven right in the end so fascistic street brutality against people handing out pamphlets is ipso facto justified

Never watched Korra after the first episode. My sisters love avatar, and showed me the show first. I loved it a lot so they showed me Korra, I couldn’t stop interjecting. Like fuck that, “These people want equal rights? I dont know I oppress people it must be made up!” The writer was told systemic racism exists and wanted to make a angry shitpost about how he isn’t racist without understanding the point.

General iroh was never held accountable for his Invasion of Ba Sing Se and hailed as tone of the best characters in the show. Had his son not died he would still be pro Fire nation. He`s litteraly the Erwin Rommel of Avatar that Libs and Fash alike love because “He stood up to Hitler” and shit. Avatar unfortunately has always been Lib

I have heard nothing but bad things about that show from everyone except lesbians. Surprising that it flopped so hard considering how great ATLA is.

I like Korra but it’s always interesting to see how much easier Kuvira gets off for being a conquering imperialist.

worse is the parallel they made with Kuvira unifying the earth nation (China) with the republic city (Hong Kong) since it was the earth nation’s legitimate territory

Now do Ranking of Kings, which your comment somehow made me think of.

Hey let’s run a shonen based on a gimmick (that we did invest time into researching and accurately portraying to our credit) and then completely forget about it come season 2, making our interesting story completely bland like every other shonen that has come out since the 90s!

I can’t say anything about the show, I could not finish watching the first season before giving up, but from fan reviews and discussion the series hasn’t improved much

As someone who forced themselves to watch it the whole way through… It’s bad, but also written for kids. They tried to make it similar to how ATLA was also a kids show but enjoyable for adults too, but failed miserably which just made it worse.
