Ofcourse this happened in Palestine, a 3rd world country! I heard on the radio through #democracynow that the cars derailed because they use an old break technology. That system works one car at a time starting from the engine and eventually reaching the last car. That works if the train is short. However thanks to #trump and his shit administration, the railroad owners were able to reverse rules set forth by the Obama administration to apply modern technology to the rail car break system. That slightly more expensive but better system makes all of the train cars to activate the breaks at the same time. That makes the train stop faster and safer. The current system works for shorter trains. However thanks to the asshole #trump the railroad owners were also able to bypass safety standards and add up to 2 miles of rail cars to a single train. The result is that the cars are not heavy enough to stop the entire train. Instead the front cars, that are already stopping, get lifted by the inner train forces (2 miles worth of cars) and then the wheels come off the rails.

However, even if this safety rule had still been in effect, it would not have applied to the Norfolk Southern train that derailed in East Palestine, because it was not categorized as a high-hazard cargo train.
