Believe this is the same road they are talking about completely revamping anyway. I guess this will have to be part of it.

I still find it insanity that the only connector from downtown to Mopac runs through a city park. But this is also the city where the interstate runs right through downtown. 🤷‍♂️

    There’s also Cesar Chavez, 5th/6th St., 15th St., 24th St., 29th St , and 35th St.

I totally forgot that 5th/6th connects. Chavez is the same connector. Does 15th actually connect? I know a lot of those “neighborhood roads” become dead ends at mopac to avoid cut through. The other streets I don’t really think of as downtown.

Cesar Chavez has direct connections to the express lanes, and also shares an offramp with 5th St.from Mopac, but they each have their own westbound connections onto Mopac. Cesar Chavez only connects to Mopac, but 6th St. keeps going past Mopac where it becomes Lake Austin Blvd. 15th St. is aka Enfield, it keeps going past Mopac where it dead ends into Lake Austin Blvd at Hula Hut/Mozart’s. 24th St. is aka Windsor, which also keeps going west through Tarrytown. I’d consider anything south of Dean Keeton to be downtown, personally

Don’t most Texas cities have a highway that flows around downtown? Houston was the only one that I remember had one go through downtown but they removed it.

This city desperately needs a central East-West highway.
