So who’s your favourite band or artist? What’s your favourite song or album?
I’m keen to hear both who you’re currently listening to, as well as your all-time favourites and guilty pleasures.
What do you like about them? How did you get into their music? And significant stories or memories?

Currently listening to a lot of Calexico. Favorite album of theirs is Feast of Wire, but they released a new one that is 🔥 , El Mirador
Favorite band: Harmonium.
Favorite album: Les cinq saisons by Harmonium.
Favorite song: Dixie on that album.Im not too varied in what i listen to, and tend to just listen to the same band/album for a few months until i change to something new. This band has been the only staple throughout my life that never got old.

Answering a bit more in general rather than answering each of your questions individually, I generally “discover” artists on Youtube after which I check whether they have presence on (primarily) Spotify. Most of them I either discovered because they were somehow connected to those I already listened to or through the looking for cover versions of songs I know. The Eurovision Song Contest also might lead to me looking up artists, if their “regular” content (not for the contest) is any good.Artists to check are including, but not limited to, Patty Gurdy, Alina Lesnik, Alina Gingertail, Luxid, Clamavi de Profundis, ALIKA, Voyager, Scardust.

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer is one of my favorites. I recommend strapping in and listening to Tarkus.
Tarkus is a great album. ELP and Yes are my fav prog-rockers.
If you haven’t check out Yes - Close to the Edge, and Fragile. They rule.
I got into prog rock by randomly stumbling on Premiata Forneria Marconi from someone’s files on soulseek, and kinda got sucked into an italian prog rock rabbit hole. Havent managed to move to english/other languages since for some reason. Thanks for the suggestions to both of you :)
Just listened to Per un amico, it was so good!
Thanks! I’ll check out Premiata Forneria Marconi too.
@dessalines @jumanjimanju My full list is here (https://aus.social/@ajsadauskas/110406978838595178 ), but if you’re looking for some good English-language prog to check out, especially with political themes, I’d highly recommend Shadow Gallery’s Tyranny and Room V albums.
Thanks!
@dessalines @jumanjimanju Italian prog rock psychedelic band Circus 2000 is a total treat
@jumanjimanju @dessalines wow, that’s an unusual entry point into prog. If you like them try Harmonium from Canada!
You should check out my other comment on this thread 😂
Theyre hands down my favorite group ever
@dessalines Saw them live in Melbourne in the 70s
Sisters of Mercy, Motorhead, DEVO, Chumbawumba, Operation Ivy, i could go on, it depends on genre
My favorite band is Fox Capture Plan, which is a Japanese jazz fusion band no one has heard of. My favorite album, however, is not from them but is instead Hawaii Part II by Miracle Musical (pretend I wrote that name in Japanese), with my favorite song being The Mind Electric from that album.
@ajsadauskas my fave australians:
the moles (mix of post-punk, psychedlia, krautrock, jangle, chamber pop etc; active around 90-92)
