      wait so that was the real plan? i thought all the althistories where they stopped just east of moscow were like “they’re too overextended to go further”… you’re telling me the actual real-life politicians of the third reich thought it would be a good idea to be permanently at war on an absurdly long border with the remnants of the soviet union/whoever else in the east?

        Yes, the real plan was to stop at the Arkhangelsk-Astrakhan line (or A-A line) as part of Generalplan Ost where they would have that obscenely large fortified frontline while they genocided or enslaved everyone west of it and conducted a perpetual bombing campaign of everything east of it. How that wasn’t going to be an incredibly porous border and an insane manpower sink was never really thought through.
