I can upload my image to imgur, and I can post that, but the pretty image doesn’t show, it’s just an imgur link. Is it possible to show a thumbnail of the pretty picture? imgur link here https://imgur.com/a/H7KjOJ6

One idea: microscopy image files can be very big. Perhaps imgur compressed it considerably, and that’s why I was able to upload it after downloading it from there. How big is the original file that you tried uploading?

No, I just tested. The .tif format is not supported by lemmy. When it is uploaded to imgur it is transformed into a .png, so it works then!
hmm, I exported the .tif into a .jpg, and into .png, and I still got the Syntax error when trying to upload in a new post?
Then I think it may be a problem with startrek.website
original image is 3.9Mb, its a tif made from the z stacks of the super huge .lsm files. is 3.9Mb too big for here? Sorry, I’m a new reddit refugee, learning how this lemmy thing works :)
