Ello, just stumbled across this site. Assuming it’s a free speech version of reddit or something. Keep seeing the word Mastodon around these here parts. Anyone care to fill me in on what this place is about? Cheers yo.

It is the most free speech version of Reddit that is actually sustainable. Never before attempted - of course, absolute free speech versions of Reddit have been tried and been scuttled because they become absolutely unbearable and legal nightmares.

Please do settle in and throw up a lot of posts.

You will get good interactions overall.

Hi im an admin here, we are a free speech community, click side bar for room rules, the main or default room allows everything but racist slurs and such, my room freeforum is a place where anyone can post anything, the pists in freeforum are opinion pieces therefore they are the opinions of the posters and not the website. Again read side bar, basically heres the deal. Do what you like have fun, we are cool here, read community side bars for rules and DM me or @masterofballs@wolfballs.com if you need any assistance

So not a free speech site then, just free-ish.

What about rap memes or racist slurs in other languages? Like the Portuguese for “black”? Its gets to point where you can’t even use words for colours at all.

You do realise that there’s no such thing as “race” or “racism”, don’t you? Only ethnicity exists.

Do whatever you like in freeforum, however if you plan to call for violence that cant be accepted also i dont give a fuck if u post shit about jews but please because of the possibility of trying to get this site a monetary situation going forward at least be creative like give an example of how a jew is dhady or something or give and an example of how your minority of choice fucked up on said day, dont just rant “reeeeeee jews did 9/11 and niggers should die” try to be constructive and precise in what your talking about, again i dont care but because of what @masterofballs@wolfballs.com is trying to do i ask you personally to try to help us out in this way

Well, it would be stupid to call for violence on the clearnet because it’s traceable and potentially toxic for the site, and stupidity seems a much better reason to ban someone than simply particular words. Again, i’m just querying in principle, i have quite different interests from the sort of thing you state anyway, and don’t have the energy to bang on about it. Also, we’re not all american or in america, or preoccupied with (or understand) american themes.

Pure free speech is pretty hard. My goal is to be as free as possible. Communities can chose how they want to moderate. I moderate the default community so I don’t want racist spam. Saying a slur will not cause a site wide ban. Most communities allow slurs but a mod can chose to ban you from their community just like you can ban anyone for any reason from your communities.

I can chose to hide communities from the front page if you are not subscribed to it. The front page is like the wolf balls advertisement platform. So no community has a right to show up though most will. It has to be pretty offensive for me to hide it from unsubbed All.

You do have a right to your opinion and voice here. We don’t do view point discrimination.

My general goal is to have gab level free speech in a reddit like platform while promoting the fediverse and the decentralization of communication.

I am simply asking an “in primciple” question. What i’m really commenting on is context. E.g.: rap music… Most who listen to it don’t think about the content. In addition, some words in america are more (or less) contentious than elsewhere; there can some epithets that you are oblivious to, e.g.: if i start talking in Caribbean patois, for instance. So, if someone posts a meme with “nigga please” in it, you know that the context is nothing to do with a slur, it’s a trope or meme… I refer you to Chris Rock’s old comedy routine about “black people v niggers”. Now, Mr Rock is obviously making a point about the word meaning something quite different, and he does it in a funny way, but on reddit, you can’t talk about it, even in a complimentary way, missing the whole point. So, having a blanket ban seema to undermine your goal, at some level, there needs to be contextual judgement, otherwise it’s a bit of a waste of time.

I don’t really know what you are talking about.

We don’t have any ban on the word nigger. You can say nigger all you want. Otherwise how could we effectively communicate? No word will ever be banned here. I ask that users not make 30 communities named stuff like niggercrime. Which has little to know communication value.

Otherwise we would have to disable community creation. The site would not survive attacks.

That said a communuty wide rule has no bearing on the whole site. A community must be governed by its owner so that they have a place to speak.

This allows the most freedom of speech. Because you need the right to have a space to voice your speech without it being drowned out .
