If anyone could describe the shirt that would be great. I wouldn’t do it justice.

    • I’ll give this a try just in case we have visually impaired people “missing” on this “shirt”.

The shirt is divided horizontally in thirds:

      • The top third is a classic dress shirt.
      • The bottom third is made of a plaited skirt, but ends just above the bellybutton
      • The middle third joins both other thirds by laying on top of them. It is a large waffle textured textile band with a ruffles on both top and bottom.

This above is true for both the torso and arms.

Which makes the whole thing look like 2 halves of different persons stitched together, but that was conveniently ran over by a tractor with tires made of waffles in the middle to hide the seam.

So I have two thoughts about this:

    1. A lot of times, if you find something that’s insanely ugly for a crazy price it’s a scam. Since the shirt photo says “as seen on tv” in the bottom left I’d bet it’s money laundering. Someone wanted to give their friend money and did it by funneling money from the studio budget into a ridiculously expensive wardrobe.
    2. If this shirt was originally designed as “high fashion”, then I’m not surprised it’s ugly. There’s this whole subsection of the fashion industry that follows the “we focused so much on whether or not we could, we didn’t consider if we should” philosophy. High fashion focuses more on technique and combining interesting shapes - a lot of times it’s not even wearable.

They are right. This shirt is so ugly that I won’t even try to explain how ugly it is. And for $238? Why???

    WornonTV.net

Jane’s blue ruffled cropped shirt on The Bold Type:

Smocked Cropped Top by Cédric Charlier at Saks Fifth Avenue, $238.80 (was $995)

I’ve been following this blog for years and I have never said anything but I finally need to speak up. 238 dollars. 238 dollars for what is quite possibly the UGLIEST shirt I have ever seen. This shirt looks likes someone spilled coffee on the 3rd ugliest shirt ever created, so they replaced the middle with the second ugliest shirt ever created to make the ugliest shirt in the entire fucking world. If I saw someone wearing this in public I could murder them without getting arrested because it would be fucking self defense

I’m so fucking upset. How dare they. How dare they sell this shirt for 238 dollars and how dare they call that a SALE. This affront to God was originally $995. A thousand dollars to look like a 19th century Lily Pulitzer model.
