Florida’s Republican governor said he would seek to abolish the departments of Education, Commerce and Energy, as well as the IRS.

“If Congress will work with me on doing that, we’ll be able to reduce the size and scope of government,” he added. “If Congress won’t go that far, I’m going to use those agencies to push back against woke ideology and against the leftism that we see creeping into all institutions of American life.”

    Or taking lobbying money from companies like HR Block to prevent changes to how taxes are done - ie, like a lot of the rest of the world where they send you a “does this look right?” report and you tick yes or no.

      IIRC it’s H&R Block and TurboTax that have given tons of cash to politicians to ensure the tax code is complicated, and that e-filing remains in their hands.

      I remember there used to be a day where you could e-file 1040 long forms through the IRS without TurboTax or H&R Block. That ship sailed over 20 years ago.
