It sounds like this study looked only at headaches. I wonder if there is any impact on aura.
Unfortunately the effect of preventatives on migraine auras is really understudied so it’s tough to say. There are people out there who get frequent bothersome aura without headache, so more research in which preventatives might be best for preventing auras specifically would be really helpful.
In general the hope is that by preventing the headache portion the aura would be prevented too, but it’s not always the case.
Interesting. This is totally anecdotal, but thinking back on it, my migraines have become less frequent in the past year and I’ve also started taking blood pressure medication. I’ll have to talk to my doctor and see if she thinks there’s a connection.
This is interesting. Before our recent glut of new migraine medicines we were off label using candesartan for migraine pretty frequently. And of course the classic propranolol or even metoprolol.
