This is a great post. I spent my 20s doing exactly this. I do it much faster than these guys though; about 20 mins or less per pit.

I like how it touches on the multiple opinions at a pit. My mentor has a saying: you can have 3 pedologists at a pit and have 4 opinions. If you shoot two pedologists, you still may have 2 opinions
