  • Unpopular opinion, hate speech is an unfortunate but necessary part of free speech that should be defended, and regulated, in the name of free speech. Yes this can include anti semitism, Islamophobia, racism, and sexism but it also includes ability to freely criticize political groups, religions, corporations, the rich, the powerful, and lets people speak their minds without worrying about unjust retribution.

In this spirit, I say let the communities stay but keep the politically charged users from admin positions.

I feel like reddit really went to shit when free speech came under attack by aggressive Trumpers and reactionary Liberals and it escalated so much. Like I’ve gotten banned for playing devil’s advocate and politely going against the crowd just to spur smarter discussions. Censoring groups for opinions is a slippery slope that promotes anti intellectualism. Now people can’t even talk about Luigi.

Sure the Nazi bar problem is a problem but it’s also like, would you rather them drink where you can see them and call them out or not? They’re going to exist whether you like them or not and they won in America because they own almost all the media but like, you’re lib leaning, follow the damn art of war and learn to control, not just ban your enemy. Banning them creates more problems than it solves and just incites them to do it back however they can. It’s Karma.
