I just started noticing this happen today. For example I was reading posts in the mycology community and posts from comics started appearing at the top of the page. I’m assuming this is a bug but is there anything I can do about it from my end, or do I just have to wait for the next update? FYI I’m just on the desktop browser, not using any apps.

Sheesh I haven’t even started trying to grow that kind of mushroom yet, and already the jokes are flying high! 😛

(And wow, lemmy’s method of emoji’s is weird… if I type :-p I get a pop-up dialog. I then have to delete the -p and I get back to regular smilies, but only a few. Then while scrolling through them the pop-up changed to a whole new list of the emojis I actually expected… WTF?)

It’s infuriating. If someone knows how to disable let us know

This is actually the first time I’ve even seen this pop up. I assumed somewhere in here would be a way to do emojis but there’s no icon under the reply dialog, and the coding doesn’t make any sense at all. Hell I just wrote up a small chat for an app last week, I have an emoji icon to select from, but I also added auto-recognition from the text where it inserts the emoji you typed but an immediate backspace will revert back to the text in case that selection was incorrect. I mean, it’s all really simple javascript and I’m by no means an expert at that language, and yet I already did a better job than what lemmy provides? Yeah I don’t get it.

A quick follow-up… so it turns out the whole emoji thing here relies on you typing a colon and then the NAME of the emoji. If you wants smilies you type “:s” and it will give you that list. Of course this presumes you know what Lemmy named all the emojis, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to bring up the whole list of what’s available. It just doesn’t make any sense.
