I just started noticing this happen today. For example I was reading posts in the mycology community and posts from comics started appearing at the top of the page. I’m assuming this is a bug but is there anything I can do about it from my end, or do I just have to wait for the next update? FYI I’m just on the desktop browser, not using any apps.
Yes, refreshing the page fixes it. Ive even had some posts load with the comments from a different post. Again, refreshing fixes this.
Ugh I hadn’t seen the comments issue yet. Sounds like a major problem if you can’t even be sure the comment you’re responding to was meant to be part of that post.

Maybe you were hallucinating. :-P
j/k, it’s a bug. I’ve seen it happen a few times.
Sheesh I haven’t even started trying to grow that kind of mushroom yet, and already the jokes are flying high! 😛
(And wow, lemmy’s method of emoji’s is weird… if I type :-p I get a pop-up dialog. I then have to delete the -p and I get back to regular smilies, but only a few. Then while scrolling through them the pop-up changed to a whole new list of the emojis I actually expected… WTF?)

It’s infuriating. If someone knows how to disable let us know
This is actually the first time I’ve even seen this pop up. I assumed somewhere in here would be a way to do emojis but there’s no icon under the reply dialog, and the coding doesn’t make any sense at all. Hell I just wrote up a small chat for an app last week, I have an emoji icon to select from, but I also added auto-recognition from the text where it inserts the emoji you typed but an immediate backspace will revert back to the text in case that selection was incorrect. I mean, it’s all really simple javascript and I’m by no means an expert at that language, and yet I already did a better job than what lemmy provides? Yeah I don’t get it.
A quick follow-up… so it turns out the whole emoji thing here relies on you typing a colon and then the NAME of the emoji. If you wants smilies you type “:s” and it will give you that list. Of course this presumes you know what Lemmy named all the emojis, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to bring up the whole list of what’s available. It just doesn’t make any sense.
bizarre - I appreciate you doing the legwork
No. Does this only happen when you’re accessing a community from your instance?
Well now I’m not sure. I opened several communities on my own and other instances over an hour ago, and none of them have shown any sign of this happening again today. Maybe my instance’s admin pushed an update overnight? Seems like it might be resolved.
