If only we could get past people’s obsessions with “perfect lawns” and start increasing the plant diversity in cities and suburbs.

Once I learned about urban biodiversity and all of that, I could not stop seeing how much of our cities and neighborhoods are essentially green dead zones. It’s almost like they might as well be parking lots.

I know, it’s horrible. I live in the suburbs and thankfully don’t have an HOA, so most of the people here don’t have “perfect lawns”, you just have to keep it short-ish or you get a notice from the city. But in the back yard things are a little more wild, and the amount of little plants with flowers that have sprouted on their own, and the amount of different insects I’ve seen is amazing. And it changes constantly!
