Never underestimate the average consumer’s ability to miss, ignore, and misinterpret subtext.

I know this is a meme but I’m legit wondering if this is what people thought the movie was conveying.
Remember that a significant number of people thought/think Homelander is the good guy and that Fight Club was aspirational rather than cautionary.
Never underestimate the average consumer’s ability to miss, ignore, and misinterpret subtext.
And Starship Troopers got people really excited about space fascism.
People wanting to be/emulate Scarface.
