      It could be a neglectful transition of sport’s logic to any competition even the ones that doesn’t involve the body, but I think it is more plausible that it is a way to have women being represented in that field.

      Making men and women compete together would probably make a male-only leaderboard just because they are outnumbering women, as our sexist society associates computer stuff with men, discouraging women from engaging in those fields.

      Maybe allowing women to get on a podium will inspire other to join that field and slowly fix this prejudice

      They are most likely first generation Americans, so all their family history is non-american. Besides they are Americans who face constant racism which is only gonna get worse with the Cold War on China. Or it could be another case of the USA commodifying minorities for sports. Or it could be they dont actually represent the population of the United States.

      One of these is probably what Rose was going for.
