Ukrainian Donbas sources, a French lawyer and a German publication claim that Ukraine has sold Russia two 155mm Caesar self-propelled howitzers French-donated.
And for $120,000 each, too, when they’re actually priced at $7million…lmfao
I doubt reverse engineering can be particularly useful (EDIT: fire control systems are apparently pretty modern) since soviet and even later russian artillery was always top notch, but this is so incredibly funny and they got it for pretty cheap.
Control elements could be interesting. I’ve read posts from Russian military correspondents (working in DNR), they seem to be of high opinion on US artillery directioning systems (not sure if I’m translating it correctly).
Those are french guns, seems like pretty modern ones, and according to the quick search they boast the fire control systems are very accurate so yeah, those would be useful.
Most artillery pieces the Ukrainians are getting come without the fire control systems, precisely because the Americans are scared they’ll fall into the hands of the Russians. Idk if the French thought to remove the electronics before sending them over.
