Iran is not based. It is a theocratic, authoritarian country where all communist parties are banned. Just because it’s anti-British does not mean it is based.

Iran has more elements of socialism than you would think. They are a strange blend of reactionary and progressive. It’s complicated. Their anti-imperialism and support for the cause of Palestinian liberation should not be downplayed. They are an essential player in the region and applying black and white thinking doesn’t help.
If we can have a nuanced view of Russia and its role in the world, despite its reactionary and capitalist elements, we should also be able to look at Iran objectively.
