Because on the surface they’re all sunshine and friendship for all and apple pie with tea. But then, at a moment’s notice, they go all “we must exterminate Russians, break up their country and make sure they stay down. For the greater good, of course”. And when, as you said, their sheltered worldview clashes with the unpleasant reality, they grow frustrated and violent.
