Oceania, despite like being very west aligned seems more “love it or hate it” when it comes to their northern neighbors. It’s funny sometimes (like “Xi Jinping wants YOU to vote labor!!”) and other times it’s this. But then there’s other things like straight up direct praise for North Korean-Australian tourism on professional media outlets.
It’s less virulent sinophobia than you see in the US but I can’t remember the last piece of pro-China reporting I heard in the news here in the NZ. Not even gonna mention the genuine embarrassment that is western reporting on the DPRK - it’s gotten to the point where I click off an article out of instinct if it mentions the DPRK because I know I’m about to be exposed to the most batshit lies and most dishonest journalism you will ever see.
