Thanks! Yeah, I took it yesterday in a nature reserve (Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen)

Genuinely a fantastic shot. I’d print that shit put an put it on the wall if I were you. Really good composition, and I love how you can see both animals thinking about each other

Wow I’ve never seen a capture quite like this before, love it!

I also love how you can see both of the creatures’ reflections in the water.

Were they both thirsty? Was the Heron in the middle of fishing when the deer turned up?

Yeah, I think that the Heron was fishing and the deer was coming to drink some water. When they spotted each other both of them remained in this position for several seconds, watching each other attentively, until the heron flew away.

The area where I took the photo is a nature reserve with lots of fresh water streams surrounded by dunes. There are a lot of deer running around. I also spotted this one jumping into and then out of the water:

Thank for painting the picture of what went down between these two. I’m glad things were settled peacefully!

Based on what you described, Heron could find another fishing spot.

Thank for sharing this other deer, looks like it’s having fun and it’s lovely to see the patterns on them too. 🦌
