Until now, the narrative in the West has been that Ukraine is comfortably winning this war, albeit while facing heavy bombardments on its major cities. The reality is more complex. The latest estimates suggest that each side may have taken upwards of 120,000 casualties already – hardly indicative of a triumph for Ukraine. And there may be worse to come: the truth is that recent promises of new combat equipment for Ukraine – especially longer range missiles, tanks and other armoured vehicles – are unlikely to be fulfilled in time to have an impact in this battle if Putin launches his offensive on the timetable Kyiv predicts.

The truth isn’t “more complex” – Ukraine is just losing. This passage reads like it was written by that one kid we all knew in school whose sole answer to everything was “it’s more complicated than that.”

I also find it interesting that the British media seems more universally pro-Ukraine than the American media, even though the US is the one pushing and funding the war. I don’t have any explanation for this – it’s just odd.

It’s pretty hilarious to see how western propagandists now have to work overtime to shift the narrative.

I’ve also observed the same. Don’t forget British politicians also actively visiting Ukraine and all. Either yanks are using them as a battering ram, or it was more of a British project to begin with. Perhaps a compensation for Brexit?

Yes, lots of factors could be at play, historically the UK always intervenes in European affairs if it feels anti-British forces are becoming too powerful. This is only multiplied by Brexit.

The UK is also doing horrifically, by all metrics, on track to shrink their GDP, I read somewhere their welfare per capita has also managed to fall to even behind the US in some respects. Their prestige is shrinking, made clear by their inability to get even a fraction of their ex colonies to sanction Russia. Their heavy industry and tech have all been sold to the Germans, Italians, and French. They are a great power in decline. They have to lash out now, the Torries have to make a stand to play up nationalistim. It’s just a shit show. It’s their only option to remain relevant, and maybe get some negotiating power for future EU talks. Also the Torries are gonna get annihilated if Ukraine looses after sending all the arms and money to em, they are gambling their future on Ukraine, if it works maybe the UK can stave off implosion for another few decades.

        • polls say the tories will lose badly if an election was held tomorrow, unfortunately that just means Starmer in power and some rearranging of the deck chairs.

Spitting Image got Starmer nailed down to a T. The guy is a cucked lib with a persecution complex, constantly blaming everyone except himself for the horrific state Labour is in. Day one he’d stub his toe and say this is the result of the Torries deregulating safety, and the greedy union workers that striking for better pay.

Also where did the 120k Russian deaths pop-up from? It all of sudden appeared by the NY Times. Way more than what most claim. Now Newsweek claims is burning their own dead to hide their casualties.

Seems Western media is getting more desperate because they fear the Ukraine is winning narrative is falling apart.

Something I didn’t see mentioned here yet: the image chosen was explicitely for Red Scare purposes. There is literally 0 reason to use an image from Red Square other than for Red Scare.

I was thinking that too. I was very confused by the Soviet stuff being so large as to make sure it can’t be missed. If Russia were to be putting out images like the one used, it would more than likely be for something celebrating victory over the Nazis. Western media can’t stop going after a nation that doesn’t exist anymore. They have taught the average person that USSR/communism/socialism and Russia are all interchangeable in meaning. I have worn face masks with the hammer and sickle and been asked by a shocking amount of people if I am of Russian decent (or if I am just really all about CoD).
