Social media is not real life. Most of its users are the people we usually try to ignore.

In properly weighted opinion polls, where we only ask the people who we usually ask for opinions, the results show that we were right all along.

Social media is not real life.

I shun and ignore most social media but even then I find that attitude so very fucking long in the tooth and it’s used as a thought terminating cliche most of the time.

It’s almost impossible to exist in the contemporary world without some kind of internet connection. 90s takes on the internet “not being real” are largely cope

It doesn’t matter how popular Israel is or isn’t. They are murdering civilians.

Popularity has nothing to do with it. If 99% of the world population supported Israel, they are still wrong.
Is The Economist arguing that morality comes from popularity?

Yes, the wonders of bourgeois democracy.

Except when majority of people supports the wrong country, like 90%+ of support for CPC in China or Crimean referendum, then it don’t count because authoritarianism.

Ok, let’s see real life then. (Looks out the window to see massive protests across the world in support of Palestine.)

I’m starting to think that maybe the Economist’s office isn’t in the “real world” either…

“Israel is more popular than social media posts suggest”

Right sure. Maybe among 90 year old zionists who can’t even leave their house lmao everyone that is going to make a difference and isn’t a conscious-less pig is pro-Palestine

Right? Even if they were popular, which they’re not, it doesn’t matter. I don’t care if everyone else wants to cleanse brown people, that’s still not right lmao tf is their point?

      Free bourgeois press…

Well now they speak mostly for US billionaires, so Marx was more accurate when he called them generally

the organ of the aristocracy of finance.

And that was like few years after the founding of it. It’s kinda astonishing though, how can a rag be so consistently evil and wrong for 180 years yet remain so influental. A real vivid illustration of the class struggle.

Financial Times just ran a similar one in which they blamed Palestine’s Hamas’ popularity on “TikTok brainwashing your child with its CCP created digital fentanyl.”

Yes the ostensibly respectable Financial Times, not Alex Jones’ Info Wars.

I’m sure they’re being good faith and telling the truth. It must be the digital fent and not the literal thousands of videos of children in pieces. Good on them. /s

Even my boomer mom who uncritically believes in the usual propaganda surrounding communism and the USSR recognizes that what Israel is doing right now is evil. Anyone who supports Israel right now is an ideologically dedicated liberal, or just really hates Muslims for whatever reason.

It can’t have ANYTHING to do with the fact that even CNN is showing Israel’s fuckups? It has NOTHING to do with the fact that the IDF is hiding and even in some cases justifying Sexual Assault? Man, the Economist is worse than usual

And this is with all the Israeli and US influence operations operating on social media. The social media teams and companies themselves being biased towards the zionists and suppressing and censoring content from only one side, incredible.
