How good is lemmy with metadata of photos? I have some that I would have liked to share, but have concerns about doxxing
not sure, but it’s always best to delete the metadata yourself before uploading anything
If you have an android, I would recommend Scrambled Exif to remove meta data
I think lemmy removes all of it

how can you dox someone with image metadata?
I’ve witnessed a person get doxxed due to an off-hand comment on their hobby, I’m not taking chances
its always good being extra careful, just wanted to know how image metadata can expose you.
There’s a lot of information in the metadata. It can be anything from information about the device, OS, and software you took and/or edited the picture with (which exposes potential vulnerabilities), to your exact GPS coordinates. Some programs and devices will also add custom fields with extra data. It’s always good to strip the EXIF metadata before putting an image anywhere public.
It can expose a scary amount of information.
