Cool to hear this one again. I hadn’t realised it was his debut recording as a leader. I had assumed he’d diverged into the funky stuff after the Muse records, Moontrane, Little Red etc. TIL.

Man, they have live recordings that sound pretty much identical. There’s nothing pre-sequenced there.
It’s neither jazz nor prog.
It’s one of the things that jazz has become. “The sound of surprise” if you will. I like to think of it as “jazz musicians playing x.” So they’ve taken a sound palette from synth heavy prog, little bit of early Genesis, that sort of thing, and played it with a jazz state of mind, jazz harmonies. There’s only a small amount of melodic improvisation, which is kinda like prog-less rock in quantity, but very jazzy in style.
The singular of bananae is bananum.
For more prog-rock flavoured jazz, check out Vels Trio.
This makes me imagine a sci-fi scenario where it’s possible to add the ability to control additional bodies to a persons brain, probably using some kind of radio-like remote control network, but only when they are young enough to have a high enough brain plasticity. After a certain age, you lose the window of opportunity to add additional bodies to your brain.
Hmm, now I kinda want to read Ancilliary Justice again.
Typically, you need to already be a member of the stores loyalty/rewards scheme, so that they know who you are before you start scanning items. And if anything goes wrong, like you try to rip them off, or a technical issue with the scanner, you get locked out from using the scanners until you call their support line and sort it out.

It’s purpose was to trigger the other carmakers to sell BEVs. It has outlived its usefulness.
Usually just a few simple tweaks to light levels, colours, contrast, crop etc. There’ll always be something you can do in post to make a photo look better, but modern smartphones do most of this stuff automatically. Back in the days when I could be bothered lugging around the ‘big’ camera, the thing to use was Adobe Lightroom. I used Photoshop because I didnt want to spend for a second Adobe product. Today I’d use a free alternative called Photopea . I found this link with a roundup of some popular easier options https://zapier.com/blog/best-ai-photo-editor/
Canon glass will give better raw photos, but then you’ll have to do the postprocessing manually. Maybe there’s some AI auto photo processing thing out there, IDK. Also you’d have to carry that thing around. OnePlus should do at least a passable attempt at postprocessing, so it’s definitely less work. But the tiny lens and sensor mean your image quality ceiling is much lower. Is the 7T the one with the cool pop up selfie cam?
Shut the fuck up, Donnie. You’re out of your element.
Any clues on who the titular Barry is? Is it trombonist Barry Rogers?
“Cumulative Layout Shift”
It’s so annoying.
Does he know about this? Is he in the room with you right now?
Shit, I was a couple paragraphs in before I realised it was satire. So plausible. 😭
Although I agree that Fahrenheit is a better descriptor of the human experience of temperature, Celsius is pretty easy too. 25 is a nice day. 12 is half of that, so fairly cold. 4 is close to freezing, so it’s fuck-off cold, but not Canada-cold.
Dehydrate!
