I think it’s a silly obfuscation to divert any blame from capitalism by just proclaiming that the world currently isn’t under capitalist hegemony, but I wanted to see what others thought and if anyone knew anything that Marx or anyone wrote about the matter.

Someone said to me “Directors are not the same as shareholders. Directors, CEOs and fund managers are, well, managers. Managers are NOT capitalists. They do not invest their own capital in order to make money and gain influence, they just climb the ladder. They don’t have the same goals as owners and capitalists. They don’t value the same things and they don’t play the political game to get the same results. This is why the politics have also changed. They don’t value the same institutions and want to do politics in different ways. They don’t value political parties, individual rights, etc., they value rules, bureaus that enforce the rules that are non-partisan and continue to operate regardless of who’s in power. Managerialism is too deep of a rabbit hole to be contained in a reddit comment thread, I would point you towards James Burnham who described it in great detail and quite accurately predicted what the modern world would look like when he wrote 80 years ago.”

Literally not worth writing about. It is the result of people dealing with the world via the lens of the propaganda narratives spun by the capitalist class, not reality.

Michael Hudson said it best : the people who understand capitalism are marxists and capitalists. What you are describing is the ideology peddled to the middle ground and it has no bearing on reality.

What you are describing has nothing to do with the reality where president’s can take office and roll back 100 environmental policies and fire 50% of the EPA… And the people these guys tend to support actually introduce new policies that buttress the police and military state. It’s literally selective vision.

These fucking idiots are being misdirected by the same sleight of hand that snake oil salesman and priests have used since the dawn of time: selective sampling, misattribution based on faulty or falsified data, and logical fallacies.

Tell them that research is not reading a subjective analysis of facts specifically selected to fit a narrative.

    • At one point, he declared that what we have isn’t capitalism, then he tried to say that actually, capitalism is just on it’s way out. Like make up your mind…

Besides, if you were to follow his logic through, he’d have to admit that capitalism doesn’t create ingenuity because after all, we’re not living under capitalism 🤔🤔.

LMAO, one thing I learned early on when dealing with liberals and reactionaries is “don’t expect consistency” They are soooo logically inconsistent.
