Non-Americans vastly underestimate how big of a problem the victim mentality here is. Although daily living conditions are not great for most people in America, it’s still the global hegemon, and the brainwashing here is on another level. I would say 99.9% of people here genuinely believe to varying degrees that every country that doesn’t mostly speak English wants to invade or is contemplating invading. It’s fucking ridiculous. It’s impossible to explain to them how absurdly, cartoonishly bloated the military budget is as well. The human mind simply isn’t good at comprehending such large numbers. An example of a country that has genuine, justified concerns of invasion would be the DPRK. Damn near every country on the planet in the so-called “international community” (and many outside it) wants to attack the DPRK.
