Mixed methods study found hopelessness among patients struggling with condition after trying multiple antidepressants
Serotonin tweaking meds have made me feel the worst I’ve ever felt. Which was surprising given how bad I already felt at the time.
Yeah because maybe it’s actually completely reasonable and valid to feel depressed when you’re watching your fucking system of government crumbling around you over the span of a dozen or two weeks.
Medical community won’t out right come out and admit that a lot of chronic depression is a natural result to the material conditions imposed on the peasants.
It would make the regime uncomfortable
Or just living in capitalism period.
That’s because sometimes the good and healthy response to external stimuli, is deep sadness. You can’t just medicate away all perceptions of reality. The idea that you should even try is toxic. It’s a capitalist fever dream to medicate away anything that makes someone even slightly less productive to the rich’s interests.
Depression != sadness. Sadness is a healthy response to external stimuli. Depression is significantly more than simply deep sadness. Deeply sad people are able to function and care for themselves/family. Depressed people don’t just struggle to be productive in a capitalist society, they struggle to be a functioning human being. It’s not just I don’t want to go do my job. It’s more about fantasizing about how amazing it would be to be dead and not have to worry about failing to do your basic self care routine.
I’m very sorry if someone misrepresented depression for you. If it was to invalidate you, I hope you are able to keep an open mind.

Making a lot of assumptions here lol
Depression isn’t just feeling sad, too.
I am quite familiar. I have desired the sweet embrace of death since I was 6. Literally all of my life that I remember. I said deeply sad because it’s more succinct than all that you said. My point is that, that feeling of hopelessness and exhaustion IS A REASONABLE RESPONSE to the world we live in. Or rather, an understandable biological response. It’s not something that should be medicated away, we should change society to avoid that for more people.
