And, if you buy in bulk once in a while, it’s a lot more likely you’ll overestimate how much you need, won’t finish all the food in time, and have to throw out stuff that have gone bad. Wasted food is both wasted money and also very bad for the environment. Versus if you had a store in walking distance, you would most likely go more often simply because each trip takes very little time and energy, and each time you’ll only get what you need in the very short term, which has been shown to reduce food waste.
