Libertarians are a very interesting broken clock position. They will say the least thought out, worst, most cringe thing ever and then like 15 minutes later reflect an opinion that Lenin would agree with. I don’t really have the patience to look into why so I’m sure someone will reply with a better explination than me shrugging my shoulders.

Analysis of material conditions are basically non-existent in the US, particularly in regards to class.

Many people are functionally illiterate when it comes to understanding the world, which leads to some very strange worldviews.

The childish “I just wanna be left alone” approach to politics is gonna be correct a lot of the time when the one not leaving you alone is the capitalist state, with its violent military, police, etc. You even have some libertarians with more principled anti-imperialism than a lot of socdems, ie the ron paul institute. Imperialism being the #1 world contradiction, they often have better foreign policy stances than the majority of those in the west.

Of course if they ever earnestly looked at the history of actors in “free markets”, never adhering to the non-aggression-principle (the main libertarian dogma) a single time when it comes into conflict with profit, then they’d become communists. Communist countries are the only ones right now doing “trade without war”.

Same explanation as anarchists. They recognize that the state is oppressive to them. However, they fail to recognize the state as a mechanism of class oppression, so they blindly hate all states irrespective of their class character.
