The only thing I know about Lukashenko is whatever was in John Oliver’s piece on him; so absolutely nothing. If y’all can help me out on that I’d be grateful.

    I have no way of knowing if they have “rigged” elections or whatever (which is always rich coming from, say, Americans) but I do know that he won 80% of the vote in the election, so if it isn’t rigged he has an overwhelming amount of electoral support.

    Edit: last I heard she was living in Lithuania, but that may not be the case anymore

    • They don’t need to rig an election, he really have 80% of support consistently for years because he’s about as much based as it is possible to be for the capitalist state leader. It’s just that capitalist core and its periphery have no democracy whatsoever so we tend to view any elections above 40-45% with suspicion.

      I mean Doug Ford became premier again even though less than half the provincial population voted so…. Funny how some countries are rigged but others aren’t…
