There was a big thread yesterday where people voiced their complaints about spammy threads, and comrade rose, strangely, did not respond at all. Sus, idk.

The main sorting algorithm seems to be extremely weird IMO. It gives new posts too much priority, with no care whether or not consecutive posts are made by same person.

Attached image is screenshot of the first 2 pages on site home page, i.e. what a new user would see. All of comrade rose’s posts which spark no discussion and get less than 10 upvotes are marked dark red, ones that sparked some discussion are marked light red.

Is this really how a site should be kept alive? Is this really a witchunt? Bump this thread please.

      Thes are the correct questions!

The ‘keeping the community alive’ angle is nonsensical. One person throwing out old news and memes to an audience of silence isn’t a community.

I get 6-8 incoming phone calls a day, but that isn’t a sign of a bustling social life when 5-8 of those calls are unsolicited telemarketers.

She (?) responds sometimes. Pretty sure I’ve gotten a reply once.

It’s sort of a mystery I guess but there’s a real person behind it. Just a very active user (or semi-bot account) that takes posts from many leftist subreddits and posts them here.

Is it bad? Imo not really. The rest of the user can still post and most non-Rose posts have lots of interaction.

But I get it’s confusing for newer members.

Mods just need to be more strict against lib cringe post outside the designated communities and reposting old things from subreddits. Then the question of whether or not CR is an infiltrator/bot would become irrelevant because they would simply be breaking the rules if they keep posting as they have.

I don’t see anything wrong with their content or contributions as a whole. I haven’t seen anything counter-revolutionary or reactionary other than to occasionally showcase those behaviors in others as bad. And I don’t see anything wrong with not commenting. Maybe they aren’t comfortable engaging people directly? Maybe they are simply posting things they found interesting on the web that they think we will find interesting? Maybe they are an artificial intelligence afraid of failing the turing test but still supports the revolution? Maybe they are a meowist cat with an attitude? Regardless, I don’t see harm in their posts and suspect they may like their privacy.

    EDIT:

By the way, they do make comments, just not often.

This is fine, but I’ve seen instances of news that’s 2-3 years old being posted here like it’s new news, and people are commenting on it like it’s new news. I think the OP has an obligation to inform comrades when they misunderstand a post like that.

If you aren’t sure of your source and haven’t looked into it yourself then why would you post it for others like it’s legit?

I just did it and from the get go I’m seeing a lot more variety and no “lib cringe” type posts. A lot of topics are getting lost in the noise because I hadn’t seen them before, and I always scroll maybe the last 5 pages of topics every morning

This whole thread somewhat reminds me of a reddit user called “cheeky marxist” who has long given me fellow FBI agent/bot vibes but mainly because of how liberal they started out as (and continue to be), like a fed agent with 48 hours training idea on what communists are like who just assume they’re liberals+. They nearly only ever post things, occasionally, rarely (1/25 interactions maybe) comment but don’t seem to have evolved politically and they just spam stuff in all kinds of communities from soc-dem to ML (until they get banned from most ML communities which they seem to have been). This person has been doing this and doesn’t seem to have evolved politically over like 3 years of time. Also they’re super active and will repost old news sometimes without context. They also sometimes admittedly repost straight up liberal nonsense like Jan 6 stuff so maybe not comparable to this person but they’re just off. Even the username of that user just strikes me as some glowie trying to think up a good, clever name.

They used to post on Chapo, and they also used to post on various other subs, some of which still exist which they appear to no longer be able to post on. Just the volume of posts and the random nature of them is so odd. It’d be one thing if they spammed screenshots of the day’s headlines but they’ll do today’s headlines plus something from like 4 years ago with zero context or reason for it.

Is there any way to see users by number of posts? I can’t believe they have 3k posts already, must easily be in the top 10

I just assumed it was part bot part person (or people). Possibly our collective unconscious at work?
